Nominator's project description
| Professor Tononi is a leading neuroscientist and well known internationally for key contributions to our scientific understanding of sleep and consciousness. With his groundbreaking “synaptic homeostasis hypothesis,” he has introduced a comprehensive functional theory of sleep, and his pioneering “integrated information theory” has offered a comprehensive explanation of consciousness and its neural correlates. In Germany, Professor Tononi continues his research on sleep and consciousness, testing predictions from his theory and exploring clinical applications with his collaborative partners. |
